Shaving Basics: Let's think of a piece of hair as a hard strand, much like a piece of dry spaghetti. If the hair is not treated before you try to cut it, it will break irregularly and this will be very uncomfortable. The trick is to soak the hair with water and then a lotion to make it cut easily. This will result in an excellent shave. Most people don't understand what makes a great shave. The secret to a good, comfortable shave is to ensure that the hair is cut just at the surface of the skin. If the hair is cut too high, the shave won't appear clean enough and if it breaks off below the surface of the skin it can become ingrown and very uncomfortable. To get a great shave you will need three things: Water and time to soak in it. A sharp razor. A hair softening, skin protecting lotion like coochy shave The water will help soften the hair and make it more flexible, just like spaghetti, your hair absorbs some of the water temporarily and will become easier to cut. A sharp razor ensures that the hair is cut at the surface of the skin and is not cut too high or pulled too far our of the follicle. If you are afraid of cutting yourself you can try a safety razor. Directions for a great shave: Start with hair that is as short as possible. If the hair is long, it will be hard to shave. Try trimming it with an electric trimmer or scissors. Take a bath or shower being sure to soak the area you need to shave. If you don't have time to shower or bathe, apply a warm, wet washcloth to the area and leave it there for a few minutes. Don't dry off the area before shaving. Apply Coochy to the area. Use enough to keep the hairs and skin well lubricated throughout the shave. Use a sharp razor, stroking the hair in one direction only (go WITH the direction that the hair normally grows). Try to run the razor over each area only once or twice.
